root password

Ok don't ask me why but I changed the root password in mysql. Then started getting the #1045 - Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: NO) Error.
I tried deleteing easyphp and reinstalling thinking that the password was saved in the folder, that didn't work.

Cursed many times then went to the FAQ, found how to configure the new password, in phpmyadmin, did so. Went back to try to get in (after restarting easyphp) and got the same error.

At some point it changed to ... (useing password: YES) still didn't work. I noticed the mysql parameters button opened it up and it says that there was still no password even after changeing it in config.inc.php.

I have tried many things like trying to reset the password in mysql useing a for a solo mysql install. Amoung others, the only thing I can think of is a clean install and I really don't want to do that.

Oh it should say “don't ask me why I changed it”, laps of stupidity, I had read the warning from mySQL one too many times I guess about it being unsecured without a password on root.

Don't bother recommending a system restore. I went back one week and nothing.

Anyone have a clue if the password to root and whatever would be store in c://windows or something similar. I tried uninstalling easyphp useing the uninstall and then delete the folder once I was done. and that didn't work. This information must be stored somewhere else.

Don't ask me why this worked but it worked for me from another thread about root password.

Go to the apache configuration file by right clicking the icon and selecting it.
Change 'listen 127.0.0.1:80'
to 'listen 127.0.0.1:8080'
save it and restart apache.
