Apache works when launched manually, but not through EasyPHP

Hello!

I am running Vista, and am having the same problem as many other people I've seen:

"Apache cannot be runned : another Web server use the Web port or port is blocked by firewall."

But, when I run netstat, nothing is using Port 80.. and more importantly (something I have not seen other forum posts mention), when I launch EasyPHP 3.0/apache/bin/apache.exe, it works perfectly! I can see the EasyPHP www directory in my browser on localhost as expected.

So why would the port be 'in use' when it is launched through EasyPHP?

Hi,
I have the same problem (Vista, "apachz cannot runs ....".)
After some desinstall and re-install with click-right ("As an admin") It seems to be a little better :
- I choose start as services ... but i always have the small easyphp icon in the bottom bar. And to admin, i have to directly type in firefox "localhost/home"

Another point : concerning this forum : impossible to do a "search" ; i alwats obtain :
"Access denied for user 'easyphp'@'localhost' to database 'easyphp': create temporary table phorum_search_ft_dd3ee75df36c793f4359f48a86c7d8c4 (key(message_id)) ENGINE=HEAP select message_id from phorum_search where MATCH (search_text) AGAINST ('test*' IN BOOLEAN MODE)"

Thank you for the suggestions!

But, running the installer as administrator didn't change anything for me, the error is exactly the same.

And when I try to 'start as services', it tells me "Can't install service: the system cannot find the file specified", then, "Cannot run server: The specified service does not exist as an installed service".

BUT! I found a good work-around while I was looking in the configuration... I just disabled "check server's TCP port before starting"... since I know that nothing is using port 80, I figured maybe only the check was faulty.. and yep, now that it's no longer checking if port 80 is in use, it works perfectly ;) The problem was just in the error reporting, I guess!

You're right ! It's just a EasyPhp little error of port checking.
I've configured what you said and it's ok now.
Thank you.
